Let It Be: Teachers, Week Two

Week Two

Week two is focused on musicology. Students are also starting to learn their parts of Let It Be. Of course, this can be adapted in the classroom. When I taught musicology in the classroom, I would incorporate practical activities so that the information became more relevant to students.

For example, you may do a lesson about The Beatles history. To finish with, get the students to learn a chorus of an easy Beatles song.

This week, you also need to give students time in class to learn their parts. The parts are available on the student page, Step Three. You can either use the blog to deliver parts to students, or you can download them from the page and print them.

The parts were arranged using a program called Finale. Finale is a great program and easy to use once you get your head around it. It’s worth taking a close look at the Finale tutorial videos that come with the program. They show you the easiest way to get around the score and add expressions etc.

I would advise on teaching musicology by using examples and organising class activities. This way, students will hopefully be more engaged. You might want to break the class up into groups and give them a particular aspect of The Beatles to research, then they could present their findings in a presentation to the class.

Have a look on You Tube for some good examples. Here’s one you might want to use.
