Let It Be: Teachers, Week Six, Assessment

Week Six and Assessment

This week, allow more time for students to work on their compositions. Also, give them some smaller composing tasks to help them out in case they’re struggling. You might want to use Garage Band and loops to encourage them to compose over the top of a beat and harmony part.

This week, their blogs are also due, so allow some class time for them to work on those and ask you questions if they need to.

I hope this unit has worked out well for you! Remember, everything can be adapted. The important thing is to make sure you can cater for each student in your class.

Below is the assessment tasks the students were given, for your reference.

Assessment Tasks for this unit

  1. Performance: Perform Let It Be in small groups. In your group you will need to play each part on the score. This includes a vocalist, percussionist, bass player and guitar player. Students can play the bass and guitar parts on anther instrument if preferred. Try to play the song with your own unique style. Feel free to arrange it differently! In class, I will be filming your progress in weeks 3, 4 and your final performance in week 5. I will upload the clips on to the blog. Then, EACH student from every group needs to leave a comment outlining the progress you can see your group has accomplished. (10 marks, due week 5)
  2. Blog: You must each create an online music blog. Your blog should contain any online tasks you have been asked to do during this unit. Include pictures of The Beatles in your blog. For each task, please create a new post. Any questions, ask me in class! (20 marks, due week 6)
