Let It Be: Teachers, Week Three
Week Three
This week should focus on performance. Students are performing in groups at the end of week 5. They are also filming their rehearsals and posting this on their blog, along with their final performance (for a more in depth look at assessment, go to Week 6: Assessment). Give the students plenty of time in class to work productively in their groups. They should be rehearsing Let It Be with consideration to musicianship and showmanship. They can arrange the song differently if they want to, or they can do a straight cover of the song.
You can introduce the week with some examples of performances by The Beatles. Discuss performance with the students and what is expected of them. Also, let them know what they will be marked on. For example, if it is out of 10 it might be as follows:
Organisation=2 marks
Entertainment=2 marks
Overall sound=2 marks
Arrangement=2 marks
Audience engagement=2 marks
Get the students to work towards the performance. Allocate them a time for their performance for the end of week 5. While the students are practising, go around the room and help them with the song if they require help.
